recovery- noun. A process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.
Recovery Community Organization (RCO)
An RCO is an independent, non-profit organization led by representatives of the local communities of recovery. These groups organize recovery-focused public and policy advocacy activities, carry out recovery-focused community education and outreach programs, and provide peer-based recovery support services.
Recovery Community Connection envisions a world where recovery is understood, embraced, promoted, and enjoyed. This includes recovery from mental health challenges and recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. We envision communities where stigma and discrimination are no longer accepted, tolerated, or propagated, and where long-term recovery is accurately supported, integrated, and nurtured.
Our mission is to develop and mobilize resources that support and enhance long-term recovery through education, public and policy advocacy, trainings, and peer support. We aim to mobilize community resources so that all who seek recovery have equal access to the support, care, and resources they need to achieve and sustain their recovery. We respect that there are multiple pathways to recovery.
